Bike jock straps
Bike jock straps are the original style of jock. Before the invention
of the athletic supporter, men would wear girdles made of rubberized
canvas. This proved to be very irritating for the Boston Athletic Club,
who found that riding the bumpy cobblestones in Boston caused insufferable
chaffing.
A man by the name of Charles Bennet was the inventor of bike jock straps.
By replacing irritating canvas with softer materials, his signature
Bike Jocky Strap provided unprecedented levels of support to bike riders
and horseback riders alike. His invention was so successful that he
founded the Bike Company which became the standard in jock strap manufacturing.
Today, there are many brands of bike jock straps, but the Bike Company
is still the most prominent manufacturer and seller. Over the last 100
years of its existence, Bike has sold over 300,000,000 jocks–which
make them one of the most trustworthy brands around.
